Pan Am & Pilot Uniforms
In many years back, pilots wore WW1 style uniforms which looked unprofessional to most passengers. As a result, Pan Am (Pan American Airways) started dressing its pilots’ in pilot uniforms similar to that of the naval officers. Pan Am was the first airline which brought to life pilot shirts. Essentially, the approach enabled the airline to make its pilots not only to appear more professional, but also to feel passengers more confident with their flights. Eventually, other members of flight crews started wearing pilot shirts to project a professional image. Currently, airline uniforms along with pilot shirts represent industry standard pilot apparel.
